RAISING FUTURES: Reflections on Childhood in a World That Moves Too Fast
Book 1 of the Raising Futures Trilogy
This is a quiet, reflective book about childhood in a world that moves too fast.
Written from the perspective of a father living in Southeast Asia, Raising Futures explores how technology, speed and adult expectations are reshaping childhood in ways we rarely stop to notice. It is not a guide, a manifesto or a set of instructions. It is a series of reflections drawn from lived moments, observations and questions that stay with us long after the screens are turned off.
This book is for parents, educators and adults who are trying to stay awake to the world children are growing up in, without judgement and without panic.
It is not about rejecting technology.
It is about remembering what childhood needs.

RAISING FUTURES: Reflections on Culture We Choose to Carry
Book 2 of the Raising Futures Trilogy
Where Book 1 reflected on the inner world of fatherhood in a rapidly changing digital age, Book 2 moves outward.
It asks what happens to culture when the world reaches children faster than meaning does.
Written from lived experience, this book reflects on neighbourhoods that change, traditions that become performance, and identities shaped quietly by global influence. It explores how culture survives not through preservation but through participation.
This is not a book about defending tradition.
It is a book about noticing what is thinning, what is evolving and what we choose to carry forward.
Calm, reflective and grounded in everyday moments, Book 2 continues the emotional arc of the Raising Futures trilogy:
- Book 1 — Becoming aware
- Book 2 — Learning to understand
- Book 3 — Preparing wisely
If our children are to know who they are, it will be because we chose to carry who we are.

DESIGNING LEARNING WITH PEOPLE IN MIND
A short, reflective ebook for educators and practitioners navigating online and hybrid learning.
Originally written during the COVID-19 period as a practical response to emergency online learning, this book has been revised and expanded for a context where digital, blended and hybrid learning are now part of everyday practice.
Rather than focusing on platforms, tools or technical solutions, the book looks at how learning is designed and how those design choices affect students, families and teachers. It draws on lived experience from working with educators at scale, as well as from navigating learning at home as a parent during periods of disruption.
Each chapter explores a common area of tension in digital learning such as time, access, instructions, home environments and workload. The focus is not on prescribing methods, but on noticing patterns, questioning assumptions and designing learning in ways that better fit real lives.
This book is written for educators who want to:
- think more carefully about how learning moves online
- reduce unnecessary pressure for students and families
- design learning that is sustainable, humane and realistic
It is intentionally calm, practical and readable, especially for educators who are second-language users of English.
This is not a policy document or a technical manual. It is a guide for pausing, reflecting and designing learning with people in mind.
